Spotlight on Ms. Riddel's Teaching Approach

Ms. Riddel, our drama teacher at Palmer, brings a fresh perspective to education. She views drama as a powerful tool for understanding and she has a passion for expression and storytelling.

Her teaching strategy is fostering a sense of friendship and connection through bonding. By ensuring that her students get to know each other, feel comfortable, and willing to perform in front of a crowd, she creates a supportive environment for all of them.

In her classes of 25 to 30 students, Ms. Riddel gives the challenge of organizing large activities with planning to the kids. The use of innovative tools, such as the lighting room with color-changing capabilities, adds an exciting “juice” to her drama classes. Her dedication to providing a diverse experience gives her student a more fun learning journey.

Despite the challenges throughout the semester, Ms. Riddel is proud with her students' progress. She understands that the biggest challenge for each of them are taking risks stepping out of their comfort zone which are essential aspects of drama classes.
