Physical and Health Education 8 - No Prerequisite


Are you ready to embark on a journey to understand the essentials of physical literacy, healthy living, and mental well-being? In PHE 8, we introduce you to team and individual activities while emphasizing active participation and personal responsibility. Explore core fitness components and learn strategies for a healthier life. Dive deep into topics surrounding mental well-being and its impact on overall health.


Physical and Health Education 9 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 8


Building on the foundation of PHE 8, PHE 9 takes team sports and individual pursuits to a higher level. Get ready to explore new sports and activities while delving deeper into healthy living, community health, and mental well-being. Expect evaluations in areas such as active participation, skill acquisition, fitness assessments, and classroom-based assessments.


Physical and Health Education 10 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 9


Take your understanding of PHE to the next level in PHE 10. In addition to team and individual pursuits, this course allows you to refine your knowledge of the "Big Ideas" in PHE and enhance your curricular competencies. Dive into important topics like mental health, nutrition, and CPR. Just like in PHE 8 and 9, active participation is key, and you'll continue to represent Palmer P.R.I.D.E.



Physical and Health Education Basketball 9 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 8 or 9, and a strong aptitude for basketball


Calling all basketball enthusiasts! PHE 9 Basketball offers a unique perspective on the PHE curriculum by focusing on fundamental motor skills required for basketball. This course is perfect for serious basketball fans who want to explore the game from various angles. You'll improve your physical attributes, learn the game's rules, and even volunteer at home basketball games as referees and minor bench officials—all while addressing core curriculum topics like mental health.


Physical and Health Education Basketball 10 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 8 or 9, and a strong aptitude for basketball


Ready for more basketball action? PHE 10 Basketball covers the 10 PHE curriculum through the lens of basketball. Similar to PHE 9 Basketball, this course focuses on fundamental motor skills, physical attributes, and an in-depth understanding of the game. You'll continue to explore core curriculum topics like mental health and contribute to home basketball games as referees and minor bench officials.



Active Living 11 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 10


Active Living 11 is an extension of PHE 10 with a greater emphasis on activities that promote a lifetime of health and fitness. Success in this course is all about active involvement and participation. You'll also gain insights into the physiological components of higher-level sports participation. Plus, get ready for exciting parent/student/guardian-funded enrichment activities, including options like bowling, sumo wrestling, rock climbing, go-carting, self-defense, and snowshoeing. A fee of approximately $150.00 will be required at the beginning of the course for these enriching experiences, which can be conveniently paid through CashOnline.


Personal Fitness 11 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 10


Design and implement personalized fitness or sport-specific conditioning programs in PHE: Personal Fitness 11. While the course is based in the Weight Room, you'll also utilize additional facilities and equipment throughout the year. Delve into strength training techniques, health, and nutrition while working independently to achieve your fitness goals. Physical and Health Education Basketball 11/12 - Prerequisite: Physical and Health Education 10 and a strong aptitude for Basketball


PHE 11/12 Basketball takes you through the 11 and/or 12 PHE curriculum with a focus on basketball. Explore fundamental motor skills, physical attributes, and embark on a conditioning program to enhance your skills. Volunteer at home basketball games as referees and minor bench officials, and gain practical knowledge of injury care and prevention. Analyze common basketball issues using video assessments.



Active Living 12 - Prerequisite: Active Living 11


Building on the foundation of Active Living 11, this course further emphasizes lifetime activities, specialized academic study in sports and athletics, and the application of healthy living principles to daily life. Just like in Active Living 11, you'll have opportunities to participate in parent/student/guardian-funded enrichment activities throughout the year. A fee of approximately $150.00 will be required at the beginning of the course for these enriching experiences, payable through CashOnline. Active involvement and participation are mandatory.


Personal Fitness 12 - Prerequisite: Personal Fitness 11


Take your fitness journey to the next level in PHE: Personal Fitness 12. Building upon the concepts introduced in Personal Fitness 11, this course challenges you with a higher skill set and greater expectations. Gain a strong foundation for pursuing a career in the fitness industry or maintaining a lifelong commitment to fitness and healthy living.
