In a subject as active as metalwork, project come quite frequently and challenging. However, Mr. Thor, our metalwork teacher, will carefully and slowly leading you to the field.
In grade 9, students make a toolbox that goes on a keychain which can be opened and has a inner tray. Mr. Thor explains that while it’s called toolbox for tools, you can likely put anything you want. Students will bring them home the projects if they would like to. It’s only required to be kept at school for a short amount of time after due date for marking purposes.
Turning into the advanced classes, students even build boats that will be sold for profit. With the help of money gained, students can take on larger projects such as canoes. Talking about boats, Mr. Thor expressed that he is bonded with them. His great-great-grandfather in Iceland used to build boats and his uncles do as well. It’s part of his heritage and culture according to him.
