Palmer Student’s Thoughts on PE

Writer's picture: TimmyTimmy

Amina, a Grade 10 student from Palmer, was interviewed by us a while ago. She was kind enough to give us some takes on the class of PE.

Amina is a spectacular taekwondo player and she has a black belt. However, she mentions that she isn’t the best in the basketball class which is where she is enrolled in this year. She states how none of us can win 100% of the time. Sometimes it might be a dominant win, sometimes a lucky or close win, but there could be a loss too. It challenges your mentally and you will of getting better. You have to try your absolutely best across games. Being in the best form already gives you a boost in mentality over your opponent, and it’s just the skills and physical ability to win.

The mentality that she has been a surprise since not a lot of high school students could think like this. Most of the time, the students in PE classes don’t really like trying at all. They might get devastated from losing but refuse to improve. To summarise, in PE class, it’s not only about the win and loss or being fit, it’s the mentality and habit of constantly improving getting into the best form of yourself.
